Adult Education & Training Exhibition

cork vec

For over 30 years the Cork Adult Education Council (CAEC), supported by Cork City Council and the City of Cork VEC, has organised the Adult Education Exhibition in City Hall in September. This year it takes place from Tuesday September 1 to Thursday September 3 and, as usual, admission is free.

This time it’s been renamed the Cork Adult Education & Training Exhibition to reflect Ireland’s current economic conditions. It’s also opening for one afternoon as well as two evenings – in response to public demand.

During good times many of the courses offered by exhibitors were for leisure and, while many will continue to offer those choices, the CAEC believes that today it is very important to encourage the public to also explore their options for retraining, upskilling, perhaps changing career.

2009 Exhibition Opening times are:
Tuesday September 1 – 5pm to 9pm
Wednesday  2 – 1.30pm to 6.30pm
Thursday 3 – 5pm  to 9pm.

To help people who find themselves unemployed or worried about losing their job, a series of workshops has been organised during the afternoon of Wednesday September 2. They take place in the Foyer of the Millennium Hall, part of City Hall – they are free and all are welcome to attend.  There will be time to ask questions after short presentations from the City of Cork VEC, FÁS, Local Employment Service, Community Development Projects, CIT, UCC, Department of Social & Family Affairs.
