Schull Campus

schull-campusSchull Campus offers a whole new level of learning. It is all about spending time learning, discussing, questioning, and experiencing topics, activities, and technologies with the very experienced people that have retired to West Cork. The area is a magnet for wonderful widely traveled highly experienced people, who wish to live in this wonderful part of the world and share their knowledge. Colin Cambell spent most of his working career in the oil business. Having realized oil is running out, he set up ASPO, the Association for the Study of Peak Oil. Chris O’Dell, cinematographer for the Inspector Morse series and much more is now doing workshops on digital photography, and will be progressing to give courses in film production and cinematography.

There are so many courses on offer through www.schullcampus.com from Organic Gardening at Glebe House, Wildlife film and Photography with zoologist Nic Slocum, Cookery courses with famous London and Paris experienced Carmel Somers at The Good Things Café. Explore the coast kayaking with Jim Kennedy, or Walk the West of Ireland with Rachel Ryan. Very famous writers like George Bernard Shaw, Edith Somerville, and Jack Butler Yeats stayed at the lovely Grove House overlooking Schull Harbour where you can now stay and learn creative writing, or simply stay there quietly and write your new masterpiece! There is an abundance of the most wonderful Art and Craft worhshops of offer through Schull Campus.

If you are living or staying in the area there are regular forums discussing topics such as National Governance, Climate Change, Sustainability, or Energy Savings for your home. The latter is also run as a two day course.

In June 2010 there are forums on ‘ The GM Food Debate‘, and ‘Oil – The next ten years‘, and in August ‘SoundWaves 2010‘, a singer / songwriter competition takes place for budding musicians.

Schull Campus is all about learning at your leisure, and soaking up the experience of those giving the workshops.
